2011 Neonatal Bed Launch

In February 2011 the Wykes Family together with friends and family presented two neonatal intensive care cribs to the Grace Centre for Newborn Care at the Children's Hospital at Westmead on behalf of the Foundation. The Biomedical Team at the Children's Hospital worked tirelessly to develop and build these beds with the $50,000 we had raised. These neonatal intensive care beds are equipped with all medical equipment to fully support a newborn/premature baby that requires constant ventilation, meaning a machine is breathing for them. These beds however are so special as they can be moved meaning, the dangers associated with having to relocate the babies from the NICU to surgery or other areas for treatment are hugely diminished as the whole bed can be transported without the baby having to be moved. These beds are aptly named Lily Bug 1 and Lily Bug 2.
